Doc (Aka Grover)
Adopted July 2008
Julianna & Bill,
I hope all is well in Louisville! I just thought I would drop you guys a note
and let you know how well Grover (Doc) is doing. He has really developed in to
quite a character since July. He has put on some weight (about 20 lbs), which
the vet said was great! He loves his dog brothers and sisters, and is very well
behaved. He is so funny, he wants to be with us all the time and I often find
myself tripping over him because he is like my shadow as I walk around the house
or the yard. We just finished an agility class, and I may be biased but I
thought he was by far the best! He spends his nights curled up with Melissa and
I on the couch rubbing his beard in between the cushions. He is a neighborhood
favorite on walks, and everyone knows his name. Thank you guys so much for
allowing this wonderful animal in our lives, he was a perfect fit. How anyone
could have treated this dog inhumanely is beyond my comprehension. If there is
anything we can do to help you guys do not hesitate to let us know, home visits
in the area, fostering, whatever is needed. Have a great day!
The Divine Ms. Maxine
The above are pictures of Maxine in her new home. Maxine had been with us almost a year before she was place because she is diabetic. I was getting ready to take her down as Bill and I had decided just to keep her when the perfect application came in and we were really torn at that point, whether to proceed with the application or not. She had been with us for so long and we were really attached. She fell right in with us from day one. She was over weight, due to the diabetes, but the pounds dropped off once we got her diet and diabetes under control. Selfishness on our part. The what if's kept going through my mind, but after interviewing Ruth (her new mom) I knew that we had to let her go. Ruth is such a wonderful lady, her whole family is wonderful. She taught everyone in the house how to Maxine her shots, just in case. We couldn't have asked for a better home for Ms. Maxine, but I still cry when I look at her. All of the rescues that we foster take a piece of your heart, but when you place one that has special needs like Ms. Maxine, it reminds you that there are special people out there willing to take a special needs baby. Thank you Ruth and family for giving Maxine her very own home.
